Although vs However  

Although=in spite of the fact that (= παρά το γεγονός ότι)

1. Μπαίνει είτε στην αρχή είτε στη μέση μιας πρότασης και δεν ακολουθεί κόμμα. 
2. Δεν μπορεί να σταθεί μόνο του στην πρόταση. Είναι εξαρτημένο από τους υπόλοιπους όρους της πρότασης. 
3. Ρόλος του είναι να ενώσει δύο αντίθετες μεταξύ προτάσεις. Γι’ αυτό και πάντα θα ακολουθεί ή θα προηγείται πρόταση που αποτελείται τουλάχιστον από υποκείμενο και ρήμα.

e.g. Although the weather was cold, we decided not to wear our jackets.
e.g. Although the weather is bad, I love London.
e.g. I love London, although the weather is bad.

However= but = αλλά/ ωστόσο.

1. Αντίθετα, το However δεν ενώνει προτάσεις. Δηλώνει και πάλι αντίθεση, αλλά οι δύο αντιτιθέμενες ιδέες βρίσκονται σε διαφορετικές προτάσεις. 
2. Τοποθετείται συνήθως στην αρχή της δεύτερης πρότασης αλλά πολλές φορές συναντάται και στο τέλος ή και μετά το υποκείμενο της πρότασης. 
3. Τις περισσότερες φορές ακολουθεί κόμμα (,).
4. Μπορεί να «σταθεί» μόνο του στην αρχή μια πρότασης- είναι αυτόνομο/ανεξάρτητο από τους υπόλοιπους όρους της πρότασης.

e.g. We decided not to wear our jackets. However, the weather was cold.
e.g. I love London. However, the weather is bad.
e.g. I love London. The weather, however, is bad.
e.g. I love London. The weather is bad, however.
