Hear/ hear about/ her from/ hear of

HEAR - LISTEN TO 

Το ρήμα hear ανήκει στα ρήματα αισθήσεως και αποδίδεται με τη σημασία "ακούω". 
Διαφέρει από το ρήμα listen to καθώς:
hear sth without wanting to (ακούω κάτι απλώς επειδή ο ήχος φτάνει στο ακουστικό μου πεδίο) 
e.g. Suddenly I heard a noise. Someone was in the garden.
e.g. Did you hear the thunder last night?

listen to sb/sth because I have the intention to (ακούω κάτι σκόπιμα, έχω πρόθεση να το ακούσω) 
e.g. I listened very carefully to what she said and wrote it all down.
e.g. George! Listen to me! I have something important to tell you.

Στην ενεργητική φωνή το ρήμα hear συνοδεύεται από :
1. bare infinitive: αν η πράξη έχει ολοκληρωσθεί). 
e.g.I heard her play the piano. (she has stopped now)
2. gerund (-ing): αν η πράξη βρίσκεται ακόμη σε εξέλιξη 
e.g.I heard her playing the piano. (she is still playing) 
3. to infinitive στην παθητική φωνή 
e.g.She was heard to play the piano.

HEAR ABOUT 

Ακούω/μαθαίνω σχετικά με κάποιο περιστατικό/γεγονός 
e.g.Have you heard about the tattoo convention taking place in your town this spring? 

HEAR FROM 

Λαμβάνω νέα καποιου. Χρησιμοποιείται κυρίως όταν "κλείνουμε" ένα mail με τη φράση:
e.g.I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
e.g.I haven't heard from George since he moved abroad. 

HEAR OF

Με ενημερώνουν σχετικά με κάποιον - κάτι. 
e.g.I haven't heard of that application before.
e.g.Have heard of this emergent rock band?
